Hello, Thursday readers

This week I dive into big picture issues, starting with the planetary health diet that was developed at a forum called EAT in Stockholm with the purpose of guiding people to eat in a way that’s both healthy for them and healthy for the planet.

I take a look at the overwhelming issue of plastic pollution and provide alternatives for buying and storing food in plastic bags, and highlight three Illawarra grocery stores that are leading the way with low-plastic shopping.

Fresh produce continues to suffer from quality, availability and price issues as a result of the La Nina-induced flooding. I look at fruit and veg options that are plentiful and relatively cheap for this month. Find out which product the annual CHOICE Shonky Awards says should be avoided at all costs, and read on for my new column called Short Bites.

Enjoy,

Susan
