Wollongong’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) has exceeded expectations yet again, writes host Jane Sim.

The Ride – hosted by Jane and Tim from City Coast Motorcycles – has become a staple on the vintage and classic motorcycling calendar.

In its first year $20,000 was raised. Now in its seventh year, it has surpassed six figures for the third time, particularly impressive given it is a niche event for very specific styles of two wheels.

The annual global spectacle – which supports the Movember Foundation – was held in 893 cities on Sunday, May 21. Wollongong currently sits proudly in 12th position, while local team Four Cure is dominating once more as one of the world’s top fundraising teams.

The concept is for riders to dress in their Sunday best, parading their magnificent motorcycles while raising awareness and funds for men’s health. Since 2016, a total of AUD $40 million has been invested by Movember into prostate cancer research and men’s mental health initiatives from funds raised by DGR.

Fundraising for the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride continues until midnight Sunday, June 4. To sponsor a Wollongong rider, please visit the website
