It's beginning to look, and feel, a lot like Christmas! And for me, that means pool dips and cicadas. I've spent many a hot summer's day, hands clamped firmly over my ears due to the excruciatingly loud call of hundreds of cicadas. Just this week I've started to notice empty shells around the yard and I cannot wait to spend some nighttime hours watching as they emerge from their shells and into adulthood wearing their fresh new skin.

Calendars for nature lovers
Got a wildlife lover in the family? Call me old-fashioned but I love a calendar and think they make the perfect present. There's just something so satisfying, and probably passive aggressive, about hanging up my chaotic schedule and showing it to the world.
