New dates for July events

Eagle-eyed readers will already have spotted that the July issues of 2508 District News and 2515 Coast News were sent to press before the Covid-19 lockdown began. Many of the events we featured in print have since been postponed or called off.

Below are some updates:

Clifton Contemporary Art Fair at Clifton School of Arts

"We are disappointed to announce that due to the latest COVID-19 lockdown, the Clifton Contemporary Art Fair which was to open on the 2nd of July and Art Fair Dinner which was to be held at the Imperial Hotel on Thursday July 8th have both been cancelled," said co-curator David Roach.

NEW DATES:

• CLIFTON CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR - opens Friday, 12 November and runs to Sunday, 21 November 2021

• CSA ART FAIR DINNER at the Imperial - Thursday, 18 November 2021.

The CSA's screening of Women of Steel, which was to be held on July 15, has also been rescheduled for Thursday, 23 September at Coledale Community Centre.

The Illawarra Grevillea Park

The park at Bulli is closed this weekend (July 3-4) but hopes to have its Open Days on July 10 and 11 if the lockdown ends on the 9th.

Honey Bee Experiences at Darkes Glenbernie Orchard

"We have cancelled our Junior Honey Bee Experiences but will have then back up when restrictions ease," Jo Fahey said. "We will look at some weekend groups when we think we can run them in safety and complying with any new regulations.

"We have closed our shop on the farm to keep our customers and staff safe till the lockdown ends."

Good news: The Darkes online shop is open! Spend over $50 and you'll get free delivery in the 2508 & 2515 areas. Visit www.darkes.com.au

Naidoc Week events at Wollongong Library

"The photographic exhibition featuring Aboriginal children at Otford during World War II is up and will be able to be seen as soon as the library is open again, hopefully from 12 July," said librarian Jo Oliver. "We will reschedule the screening of the documentary Croker Island Exodus for future dates. People can check the Wollongong Library website for updates on days and times."

Author talks by Collins Booksellers Thirroul

"We’re hoping these two exciting events will go ahead and encourage you to book your place," said the team at Collins Thirroul. "Should the lockdown continue, the events will be postponed and first places at the rescheduled events will go to people from the original guest list. So, book now! Bri Lee’s new book is available in store now; Maggie Dent’s will be released on 7th July."

The new author talks dates are:

14th July Bri Lee – award winning journalist, activist and influencer, “Who Gets To Be Smart”.

28th July Maggie Dent - “Parental As Anything”. This event is a must for parents, educators and anyone interested in improving the lives of young people.

The Antipodean exhibition

The Antipodean exhibition has been postponed and new dates will be announced on the Timbermillgallery Instagram and art_caitlynmcintosh Instagram pages.
