RAIL TIMETABLE CHANGES FROM 10 JANUARY
Rail timetables across the State will be adjusted from 10 January, to help provide reliability and continuity of services while patronage levels are down due to COVID-19.
Transport for NSW Chief Operating Officer, Howard Collins, said Transport for NSW will return to an enhanced weekend rail timetable similar to what was run during the peak of the Delta outbreak in August.
“During Delta, we successfully adjusted our timetable to prioritise the safety of our customers and staff while also providing vital transport services for the community,” Mr Collins said.
“While patronage remains low across the network, we will again adjust rail services to an enhanced weekend timetable as we may also experience COVID-related staffing issues in the current environment.
“While buses, ferries, metro and Light Rail timetables will continue to operate to a summer timetable, we ask that you plan ahead before you make your journey.
“We also ask anyone looking to travel on our NSW TrainLink regional rail services to book early and plan ahead.
“Masks remain mandatory on public transport across the State and we thank the community for working with us during this challenging time and need everyone to follow health advice.
“The COVIDSafe Transport Plan remains in place across the network, including our enhanced cleaning regime with almost four million extra hours of cleaning since the beginning of March 2020.
“Our frontline transport staff have been doing an amazing job during this unprecedented time and we urge you to keep giving them your respect and understanding. We cannot thank them enough for the work they are doing to keep the state moving.”
We have hundreds of Transport staff impacted by COVID-19 expect the number to continue to fluctuate as we deal with the Omicron strain.
Please continue to practice good COVID safe etiquette – wear a mask and sit or stand only on a green dot.
From 10 January, the following rail timetables will be in place to support COVID-related staffing issues:
- Sydney Trains
- Modified weekend timetable
- Additional peak and higher demand period services, where required, to support COVID-Safe capacity
- NSW TrainLink
- Modified weekend timetable for Intercity Services
- Any customers with bookings on regional train services will be contacted directly if their travel is impacted
Customers should plan ahead by visiting www.transportnsw.info or using real time apps
