Marking the first anniversary of the failed referendum for a First Nations Voice to Parliament, on Sunday, October 13 dozens of Yes campaign supporters walked in solidarity from Coalcliff to Thirroul.

Decked out in Yes t-shirts, the impromptu walk attracted about 30 participants.

Organiser Sallie Moffatt said the 11km walk along Lawrence Hargreaves Drive over three hours in perfect weather created inspiring conversations with "overwhelming support" from the public en route.

"Smiles and thumbs up outweighed the 'vote no' by a large margin!"

Plans are underway to create a book documenting the Yes campaign in the Illawarra with publication timed to coincide with the second anniversary of the referendum in October 2025.
