With Father’s Day coming up this Sunday, 4 September, you might need some inspiration for spoiling your partner, dad or grandfather. Or you may simply be keen for a nice Sunday drive. Either way, we have you covered with three of the best family-friendly day trips around.
1. Southern Highlands
One of our regular favourite day trip loops is through the Southern Highlands. Depending on our preference on the day, we love to stop at Gerringong and check on Werri Beach, Berry (see my previous article on this delicious destination), Kangaroo Valley for lunch at The Friendly Inn Hotel and then Robertson for its famous pie and antique shops.
If you want to extend the day, you can drive through to Berrima, the cutest little town and home to Eschalot and then onto Bowral for all your country town shopping at Dirty Janes Antique Market.

2. Blue Mountains
Have you visited Scenic World yet? It is a fantastic destination for all ages. You can make your time as easy or challenging as you wish with longer bush walks or you can enjoy the scenic views of the Blue Mountains and the Three Sisters from the world's steepest railway, cableway and skyway.

3. Royal National Park
Again, this is a choose-your-own adventure depending on your party but you can read more about bush walks for little legs here. Our favourite spots to highlight include Forest Path, an easy kid-friendly hike, Garie Beach, Wattamolla Beach and Audley Weir for yummy food and refreshments at Audley Dance Hall Cafe.
