Watch a Dharawal Country story

Wollongong City Council has produced a short film titled Dharawal People, Places, Stories that celebrates the Illawarra's many significant Aboriginal sites.

Watch this extract featuring Aunty Shas talking about Bellambi and Sandon Point, and why the humpback whale (burri burri) is important to the Dharawal people.

"The Gymea lily is one of those flowers that indicate to us that it's whale season," Aunty Shas says. "We can come again to the rock platforms to see those whales that are on their migration journey."
