Night closures on the M1 Princes Motorway and Picton Road

Motorists are advised of upcoming night closures on the M1 Princes Motorway for maintenance work between Bulli Tops and Memorial Drive and on Picton Road.

Work on the Mount Ousley interchange will also be carried out, including investigations, cleaning noise walls, removing and installing temporary barriers and signage, installing street lighting and variable message boards, closed circuit television (CCTV) work, installing kerbs and removing an existing median island, drainage and earthworks, and building pavements and line marking.

Closures will be in place on Sunday 9, Sunday 16 and Sunday 30 August between 8pm and 4am, weather permitting.

During the work, the M1 Princes Motorway will be closed between Bulli Tops and Memorial Drive, and Picton Road will be closed between the M1 Princes Motorway and Almond Street at Wilton.

Picton Road eastbound will be closed from 7.30pm each of the three nights to ensure the M1 Princes Motorway is clear by 8pm.

During the closure of the M1 Princes Motorway on Sunday 16 August, there will be an increase in light and heavy vehicle movements on Irvine Street as they access the work area. Access to properties on Irvine Street will be maintained.

Motorists travelling between Wollongong and Bulli Tops can detour via Memorial Drive and Bulli Pass and should allow up to 15 minutes of additional travel time.

Motorists travelling between Wollongong and the Hume Motorway can detour via Memorial Drive, Bulli Pass and Appin Road, and should allow up to 40 minutes of additional travel time. Light vehicles can also use Wilton Road at Broughton Pass between Appin Road and Picton Road.

Motorists travelling to the Hume Motorway can also detour via the Illawarra Highway at Macquarie Pass.

Heavy vehicles over 19 metres long and more than 50.5 tonnes will not be able to access Bulli Pass or Macquarie Pass during the closures and are advised to delay their journey.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Transport for NSW thanks the community for their patience while this essential work is carried out.
