Off-Market vs On-Market – Which Gets the Best Price?
Partner content with Pepper Real Estate Agency HQ
Off-market selling has become increasingly popular across our area, with agents offering properties exclusively to their buyer databases before advertising publicly.
Some campaigns involve professional photography and social media, while others simply involve contacting existing buyers. Going on-market means advertising through major portals such as realestate.com.au and Domain, reaching a much wider audience.
Agents often promote their exclusive buyers as a reason to sell off-market. While there is some merit in this, claims can be exaggerated.
Does off-market achieve a higher price?
Australian research suggests the opposite, with broader exposure generally producing stronger results through increased buyer competition.

A recent example was our sale of 110 Undola Road, Helensburgh. Our off-market campaign generated two offers, but once advertised publicly, a new buyer offered $50,000 more!
Our view? Off-market is a worthwhile starting strategy, but maximum exposure often delivers the best result.
