SPAT Film Society to screen French comedy drama

The next and last film for this year is My Brother's Band, also known as The Marching Band or En fanfare.  It’s a 2024 French comedy drama directed by Emmanuel Courcol and will be shown on Saturday, 31 October at the Stanwell Park CWA Hall at 7:30pm. The doors open at 7 with a complementary glass of wine and nibbles. We look forward to seeing you then.

Annual pantomime

The auditions for the panto written by Cameron Sharp and entitled Save the Moon: A Cheesy Pantomime were well beyond our expectation. Over 30 excited primary and high school students showed up for the auditions along with a healthy number of seasoned adult performers and a few new faces as well.

There are plenty of parts for both adults and children and it’s the perfect opportunity for the parents of children involved to try their hand at acting or to take up any of the non-acting roles essential for a successful production.

We will be running a stage craft workshop for all the children involved a week or so prior to the rehearsals starting so they gain an understanding of voice projection and blocking.  These details will be available at the auditions.

SPAT Singers

The singers are enjoying the diverse rang of songs that Lindy Sharp challenges us with every Friday night.

Our eclectic mix so far includes stirring pieces by Mozart and Handel, American classics from the 1930s, 1940s, a 60s gospel arrangement from a hymn written in 1755, French and Italian songs and three late 16th and early 17th century madrigals that were first used in three of Shakespeare’s plays

We meet every Friday evening at 7:30 pm at the Stanwell Park CWA hall and welcome both singers and musicians alike.
