Art Show poster celebrates story of Scarborough school
The 2026 Art Show poster carries an especially meaningful piece of Scarborough Public School’s story, writes principal Emma Hutchinson
For 28 years, the Scarborough Art Show has brought people together and this year, we are once again looking forward to opening the gates of Scarborough Public School for a weekend of art, creativity and community.
Nestled between the escarpment and the sea, Scarborough Public School may be small, but its spirit has always been much bigger than its size. The Art Show captures that beautifully. It celebrates what can happen when a community comes together with generosity, aspiration and a shared belief in the importance of creativity.
Run by an extraordinary team of volunteers from our P&C, current and past families, alumni, local artists and community members, the Art Show has grown across almost three decades into something that belongs not simply to the school, but to the wider Scarborough community.
While the weekend is an important fundraiser for our small public school, it has always been about much more than raising money. It is a place to gather, reconnect, discover artists, celebrate creativity and experience the joy that comes from being part of something created collectively.
This year’s Art Show poster carries an especially meaningful piece of our school’s story. It features our beautiful new artwork, Our Shared Journey, created by artist Holly Sanders.
The artwork celebrates Scarborough Public School as a place “where the escarpment meets the sea”, weaving together Country, children, families, community and the natural environment.
Its imagery journeys from bush to ocean, incorporating the whale, Gymea lily, sea eagle and black cockatoos alongside meeting places and pathways representing the sharing of knowledge and connection across generations.
The artwork will also become part of our refreshed school identity and new school shirt in 2027 – reflecting sustainability, gender-neutral design, connection to place and, most importantly, belonging.
The Scarborough Art Show is 28 years of people giving their time, sharing their talents and coming together around a little school between the mountain and the sea.
We can’t wait to welcome everyone back! See you there!
