Wollongong Golf Club has announced “exciting upgrades” for its clubhouse and adjoining hotel.

In a notice to members, following “a thorough tender process”, the club said starting this Wednesday, 10 June multi-million-dollar works will commence on a major refurbishment of the clubhouse.

“It will include a full upgrade of all 20 hotel rooms, along with improvements to our level one facilities,” members were told.

The big upgrade should be completed in October.

“This next stage will bring new event spaces, executive boardroom, a walk-in wine cellar/deli and a children’s function room – all designed to enhance the way our members and guests experience the club.

“As part of this, Best Western City Sands will temporarily close from this Wednesday, with works scheduled for completion in early October 2026.

“The Deck Restaurant will also move to Friday-Sunday lunch and dinner trade only during this period, while works are underway.

“With builder availability and approvals aligning, we’re looking forward to reopening in time for the warmer months with a refreshed and reimagined space for everyone to enjoy.”

Dining will be restricted to three days a week.

The club has apologised in advance to members for the disruption and noise which is expected during the four-month renovation period.

“We’re really proud to be making this investment in the club and we’re looking forward to sharing this next chapter of Wollongong Golf Club with you as it comes to life.”

Members have been advised it will be business as usual on the ground floor – the Tap Inn, pro shop and golf course will continue to operate as normal.
