Enter now to take part in a spectacular 1.7km ocean swim, writes Coalcliff SLSC club captain, Rob Deacon
Coalcliff Surf Life Saving Club is inviting ocean swimmers to take on “The New Great Swim of the South” – the Dave Winner Beach to Bombie Swim, at Coalcliff Beach on Sunday, 22 November 2026.
The spectacular 1.7-kilometre ocean swim takes competitors from Coalcliff Beach around the Bombie course, providing an opportunity to race along one of the most beautiful sections of the NSW coastline.
Registration opens at 9am, with the race starting at 11am.
The swim is a professionally run event featuring ankle electronic timing provided by The Timing Guys. Competitor safety is a major priority, with comprehensive water safety provided by Coalcliff SLSC, including two jet skis, two Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRBs), rescue personnel and drone surveillance.
Equilibrium Healthcare has joined the event as a major partner, providing another example of the company’s commitment to supporting community initiatives that encourage healthy and active lifestyles. Ohana Ocean Athletics is also supporting the event by generously providing prizes for competitors.

The swim honours Coalcliff SLSC Life Member Dave Winner and celebrates his remarkable story of resilience following a catastrophic surfing accident in 2021. It also promotes the lifesaving importance of CPR through the work of the Dave Winner Foundation.
Competitive and recreational ocean swimmers are invited to enter, bring their swimming friends and experience this spectacular Northern Illawarra event.
Come to Coalcliff and take on the New Great Swim of the South!
