Transport for NSW Traffic Alert: 17 June 2026
Roads users are advised of changed traffic conditions next week in Wollongong at the intersection of Market Street and Kembla Street for safety upgrade work.
Work includes replacing the traffic lights and control box, upgrading existing pram ramps, and installing CCTV at the intersection to improve safety.
To minimise impacts on the community, work will be carried out at night from Sunday 21 June between 8pm and 5am Sunday to Thursday for up to six weeks, weather permitting.
Single lane closures, a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h and stop/slow traffic control will be in place for the safety of workers and road users.
Traffic lights at the site may be turned off intermittently during work hours and the site will be managed under traffic control.
Businesses surrounding the work area will have access. Pedestrian access will also be maintained under traffic control.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, follow the directions of signs and traffic control and allow five minutes of additional travel time.
