SPAT plans bush dance night
A bush dance night featuring Stanwell Park Arts Theatre musicians and friends will be held in March
The Stanwell Park Arts Theatre (SPAT) committee met a few weeks ago to discuss the program for our 52nd year.
A bush dance night featuring our local SPAT musicians and friends will be held on one of the days of the weekend of March 20. Check our website for the exact date and time.
The SPAT Singers Supper Show will take place on the evenings of Saturday, June 27 and Saturday, July 4 with a possible afternoon soiree on Sunday, July 5. The Singers show is an annual favourite with members and audiences alike. If you would like to get involved, we meet every Friday night at 7 pm under the direction of the multi-talented Lindy Sharp. Her musical choices are eclectic and showcase both the singers’ talents and the musicians who play a variety of instruments.
Rod Lander – singer, published songwriter and the conductor who founded the SPAT Singers and directed the group for 40 years – has written a musical script, yet to be named, which he will direct. This musical will contain his own original songs and will be staged on Friday and Saturday evenings, August 28, and 29, and Friday and Saturday, August 4 and 5.
Dates for the Christmas panto have not yet been set, but our very own Rachel Kiddier and Christine Higgins – who wrote last year’s very successful panto – have once again volunteered to do the honours this year.
The SPAT Film Society run by Wayne Turner will show four films this year. An annual membership fee of $25 entitles you to see all four movies. Check our website for the first film date.
Additionally, Matt Dickson is interested in writing two short plays which he will present to the committee in due course.
A period radio play replete with costumes and sound effects was very popular last year, so we would like to do another.
Stay tuned for updates and find more information on our website.
